Axel, an autistic boy with a love for birds faces challenges communicating and understanding others. After a tornado destroys an eaglet's nest as well as his own home, his life begins to change almost daily. His father returns after a long absence, school is closed for repairs and the eagle's nest, gone. Even more, one of the eaglets has sustained an injury. Through his relationship with Dr. Martin, Axel learns about hope, finds his voice, and begins to uncover secrets in his life.
